4-year-old robbed at ATM

Police in New York say a man is wanted for robbing a 4-year-old girl and an 81-year-old woman within minutes of each other.  The incidents took place Tuesday afternoon on the Upper West Side.

In the first incident the man shoved the 81-year-old woman to the floor of the Post Office at 178 Columbus Avenue.  He grabbed her purse and took off.

Less than ten minutes later, the same man walked into a Chase Bank at 2030 Broadway still carrying the 81-year-old victim's purse.   At one of the bank's ATMs, a 37-year-old woman and her two children, a 4-year-old girl and 5-month-old baby, withdrew money from the machine. When the 4-year-old took the money from the ATM, the man came up from behind and grabbed it from her right hand. He ran eastbound on West 70th Street with $300 and the girl's glove.

The NYPD described the man as black, 20-25 years old, 5'4" to 5'6"; last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, a green flight jacket, gray sweatpants and gray sneakers.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
