Prop weapons will not be permitted at Asbury Park's Zombie Walk on Saturday. Organizers made the decision for the safety and comfort of all visitors in the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
In a statement, organizers said: "With recent tragedies in mind and for the safety and comfort of everyone visiting Asbury Park this weekend, we have decided that NO PROP WEAPONS will be allowed at this or future Zombie Walks."
The statement went on to say: "We're sorry, we know that many people incorporate props into their costume, but from now on weapons are banned. If our staff, security or local police see attendees carrying prop weapons you will be asked to return them to your car or leave the event. No exceptions."
Organizers say between 7,000 and 10,000 people will dress as zombies for the walk, which is marking its tenth anniversary.
According to Guinness World Record adjudicator Michael Empric, the 9,592 zombies gathered in 2013 set a new record for largest zombie walk.
