Yankees home opener postponed

The wintry mix in the forecast Monday for the New York City area forced the postponement of the NY Yankees home opener against the Houston Astros.

The game which was originally expected to be played at 1:05 p.m. was rescheduled for Tues., April 5.

The team made the official announcement via its Twitter page:

The last time the Bombers postponed an opening day game was in 2008, but that occurred during the game as snow began to fall.
