Women at the helm of Atlantic 10, Big East

Buzzerbeaters, upsets and dunks have become synonymous with this time of year: it's March Madness. And as millions of Americans again prepare to watch young men compete for tournament glory, women are running the show in two of NCAA's toughest conferences.

Bernadette McGlade is commissioner of the Atlantic 10. Val Ackerman holds the same title at the Big East.

Right now men outnumber women as Division 1 conference commissioners to the tune of nearly 4 to 1. There are only nine women in all of Division 1.

Now the two commissioners are leading their conferences with competing tournaments in New York City, but this wouldn't be the first time they've faced off.

And even though they no longer face each other on the court, the two women hope stories like theirs will only become more common.
