Officers are investigating a report of a woman who tried to burn a car with her three daughters inside it.
Police say after witnesses stopped the woman, she ran away from them with her children, ages 9, 11 and 13.
A Harris County Precinct 7 deputy constable found the woman and took her into custody.
The Houston Fire Department arson unit is conducting an investigation on West Orem Drive near Quention Drive in southwest Houston.
Witnesses at a car wash say a woman revved her car engine until the engine caught fire. When they approached the car they found a woman, 9-yr old, 11-yr old, and a 13-yr old female and heard the female say., "We're going to see Jesus."
At that point, witnesses say the woman took her kids out of the car and started going west on Orem where a Pct. 7 Deputy Constable intercepted her. Investigators say she then abandoned the 11-yr old and 13-yr old and drug the 9-yr old toward a bayou. According to deputies, she tripped and fell and ran briefly before the deputy constable took her into custody. Authorities say the woman will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a family member. A mental health evaluation is pending.
Arson investigators were also called due to the fire.
