Woman busted after stabbing dog that bit her baby

A Long Island woman is under arrest after stabbing a dog that bit her 1-year-old son.

Nassau County Police arrested Stephanie Penado, 26, of Hempstead on aggravated cruelty to animals charges.

They say it happened on Monday at 9:30 a.m.  Police say Penado stabbed her sister's dog several times with a knife on his face and back because she was upset that the dog bit her son.

The dog is being treated at North Shore Animal League for her injuries.

Penado was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in Hempstead. It was unclear if she had a lawyer.
