Vienna celebrates 28 years of service from beloved retiring UPS delivery driver Renny Butler

VIENNA, Va. - A Virginia neighborhood is letting their longtime UPS driver know that he will be missed once he retires on Wednesday.

After 28 years of delivering packages, Renny Butler is hanging up his brown suit for good. To show their appreciation for his years of dedication, Vienna residents lined the streets with signs and balloons wishing him luck.

"For 28 years, he's been driving that brown truck up and down," said local resident Joanna Ross. "My kids run out to see him. I still run out to see him because he just brightens up your day. No matter what's going on. He's got something funny to say or words of wisdom. He's great. We're just going to miss him horribly."

"If you are driving in Vienna and you come upon a UPS truck, you silently say to yourself, "I hope that's Renny!" He truly is a breath of fresh air when he arrives at your doorstep. He will be missed," said Missy Whittington, a Vienna resident.

A fixture in the neighborhood for almost three decades, some residents say Renny has worked their route for so long that their now adult children were infants when he first started.

"I love these guys," Renny told FOX 5's Bob Barnard. "It's unbelievable - the love." Renny joked that UPS probably hates all of the attention he's getting because it means he can't get any work done.

"From day one my dad told me, 'Treat people the way you want to be treated.' And that's what I've done. I love these guys. I'm going to miss them."
