UConn's husky mascot was ring bearer at wedding

- A Connecticut couple took their University of Connecticut pride to an adorable level when a purebred Siberian husky named Jonathan XIV—the university's mascot—was a ring bearer at their wedding in July.

Jonathan the husky actually helped when the couple got engaged last year. The pooch, with the engagement ring around his collar, showed up when Daniel Bronko proposed to Holly Korona by a lake on campus.

"I had all the trust in Jonathan to handle the rings because he did such a good job with the engagement ring a year ago," Daniel, 24, wrote in an email to Fox5NY.com. "He filled the role of assistant ring bearer perfectly and he was a hit with everyone at the wedding."

The wedding ceremony took place in picturesque Simsbury. Photographer Joanne Vandal of Joanne Vandal Photography said that Jonathan was very entertaining when he walked down the aisle carrying the ring box on his collar.

"He got laughs when he stopped to smell the flower arrangements hanging off the chairs," Joanne told Fox5NY.com. "Afterwards, he was super easy to pose and with the couple and the entire bridal party."

The Bronkos, of South Windsor, met at UConn in 2013 and currently are elementary school teachers in Ellington.

"It was so much fun to have him in the bridal party—I love that connection they have with UConn," Joanne said. "Jonathan really was a perfect addition to the wedding!"
