Trump welcomed by supporters during Bedminster visit

President Trump spent a second day at his club and golf course in New Jersey for the U.S. Women's Open.

He waved at fans and watched all the action from a glass room built for him near the 16th hole.

Anti-trump women's groups were supposed to be out in Bedminster protesting, but there turned out to be far more supporters of the president.

Bedminster, New Jersey is about 35 miles from Manhattan. It's a part of the garden state where farmland is the focus of real estate. It's also home to Trump National, so with the president attending the LPGA events, the small town is also the focus of national politics.

Singing the president's praises, supporters gathered about a mile from Trump National.

“I support Trump. I like his agenda for America,” said one supporter.

“He’s had some bumps along the road, but no one is focusing on the good things that are happening,” said another.

The commander in chief spent part of his weekend watching the U.S. Open at his New Jersey golf course following a week of scathing headlines after his son released emails showing Donald Jr. met with a kremlin-linked lawyer last summer.

For most gathered here, like it is for much of the president's base, the latest thread in the Russia saga is irrelevant.

However, some expected a bit more legislative action with republicans in control of the house senate and executive.

"They can't see beyond their noses. I think since he’s only been in office since January, he’s still new. He’s done a great job, but he's learning,” said one supporter.

Learning, and still able to lean on his supporters.
