Trash can explodes outside home in Jersey Shore town

A trash can exploded early Thursday morning in Barnegat, New Jersey.  The blast occurred at around 1:30 a.m. outside a home for pick-up. There were no reports of injuries.  Officials are on the scene investigating.

Last month, a pipe bomb exploded in another shore town shortly before thousands of runners were to participate in a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors.

No injuries were reported in the Seaside Park blast and no surrounding structures were damaged.

The suspect in the bombing and another in New York, Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, remains hospitalized after a shoot-out with police. He is expected to be arraigned from his bedside on Thursday.
