The Who open new lounge for teen patients at Sloan Kettering

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - Legendary English rock band the Who are no strangers to helping those in need. They performed back in 2012 at a Superstorm Sandy relief concert.

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend took a break from their North American tour and helped open up a new teen cancer space at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.

Daltrey and Townshend donated $1 million to help build a lounge just for teenagers and young adults. It is a place where they can feel at home, with a kitchen, a graffiti wall, and an autographed guitar from the Who on the wall. The goal is to help the age group that's often neglected in cancer treatment.

Patients can come here and binge-watch their favorite TV shows and be with others who are just like them.

The Who has helped open 10 of these lounges at hospitals throughout the country. And will continue to do that work so more teenagers can have the support their need during their recovery.
