Teacher used Facebook to find porn victims, say investigators

A teacher at the Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences was arrested Wednesday for allegedly requesting and receiving sexually explicit videos and images from minors.

Jonathan Deutsch, 34, of Brooklyn, is accused of having communications with a sexual nature via Facebook messenger with at least 45 of the hundreds of minors he contacted, according to an indictment unsealed in federal court on Wednesday.

Deutsch requested and received sexually explicit images or videos from at least four minors, whom the FBI has identified. Those victims range in age from 10 to 16 years old.

Deutsch often instructed minors to perform sexually explicit acts and to send him videos and photos of those acts. Deutsch also sent minors sexual photos that he represented to be of himself, according to the indictment.

“As alleged, Jonathan Deutsch, a Brooklyn high school teacher, solicited and received sexually explicit material from minors he contacted on Facebook,” stated United States Attorney Richard Donoghue.

“The protection of innocent children is an utmost priority for this Office and our law enforcement partners. We will continue to make every effort to ensure that those who contribute to the exploitation and victimization of children will be brought to justice.”

He faces five counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
