Swastikas found on New York-area campuses

Students at Nassau Community College are reacting to bias graffiti found on their campus. The Nassau County Police Department is investigating four separate incidents where swastikas and anti-Semitic statements were found. The most recent discovery was on Wednesday.

This isn't the only college handling hate crime. Over the past month, swastikas have been reported in the SUNY school system, at the New School in Manhattan and throughout the country.

Many students are angry that someone would do this.

According to police, bias crimes are down 21 percent in Nassau this year but Tracy Garrison-Feinberg with the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center says hatred needs to be stopped altogether.

A spokesperson for Nassau Community College declined an on camera interview, but in a statement said that what happened is unacceptable. The college said it will take all steps necessary to make sure the person or people responsible will be held responsible to keep the college a safe place for everyone.
