Suspect in Staten Island killings is shot in Pennsylvania

HAMBURG, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man wanted in a triple shooting that left two people dead in Staten Island was wounded by police as they tried to arrest him in Pennsylvania.

State Police and the U.S. Marshal's Service say 49-year-old Anthony Morales was shot when he reached for his waistband as officers ordered him to get out of his vehicle Monday night in Hamburg. A loaded handgun was found on him.

Police say Morales is in stable condition at a hospital.

Morales is wanted in the March 24 shooting that killed 47-year-old Idelle Rivera and her 21-year-old son, Anthony, in the Mariners Harbor section of Staten Island.

Investigators say a 22-year-old man was also shot, but survived.
