Sugar and carb warning in NYC restaurants?

New Yorkers love to eat out. There is so much great food and delicious desserts. But obesity across the country is skyrocketing. City Council Member Inez Barron wants you to be more well-informed and conscious about what you're eating.

Barron has introduced a bill that would require restaurants to warn customers about the dangers of sugar and carbs.

If this would go through, this is how it would work. Restaurants would have to put a poster up much like the one that you're very familiar with showing what to do to help someone who is choking. But in this case, the poster would list the risks associated with eating too many carbs and too much sugar. The poster would be created by the city's Health Department.

The idea isn't going over well with diners we talked to. Coppola's Restaurant in Kips Bay isn't too charged up about the idea either.

Barron says the council will be holding hearings on her proposal, and the poster could become part of the decor at your local restaurant.
