Drone that can submerge and fly to hit market

A new waterproof drone can submerge like a submarine, float like a boat, and then fly.

The Spry is a combination of a racing drone and a photography/videography drone.  The developers raised over $109,000 on Kickstarter to fund the development.

The Spry's makers say it can reach speeds of 43 mph in the air and can submerge for up to 30 minutes.

The drone as a self-contained 4K camera that can wirelessly transmit the video signal to a monitor in a waterproof remote control.

It took two years for SwellProUSA and Urban Drones to develop the drone.

"The Spry's ability to submerge under water and fly in the air makes it the most versatile drone ever created. We've only seen this in science fiction movies," said Alex Rodriguez, Urban Drones' CEO.

Drone enthusiasts can activate the Spry's GPS from the remote control to access its advanced flight features like Hold Position, Auto Follow, Object Orbit and Return to Pilot's Position.

The Spry will be available for pre-order on Kickstarter for $749. It's expected to retail later at $989.
