Streetball photographer Anthony Geathers

I went to Broward Park in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to connect with the guy responsible for capturing the essence of summer in New York City: streetball.

A picture is worth a thousand words as they say. And when you look at Anthony Geathers photos you don't need an explanation why.

He got his first intro to the process of photography in high school. Then he left Brooklyn for the military. He joined the Marine Corps and served two tours in Afghanistan from 2008 to 2012.

Back in New York City, it was back to his first love. As he puts it, his success is more a byproduct of his experiences than just schooling.

He views the work as more than art, but a tool and maybe even a loud speaker to give voice to the voiceless.
