Deadly stabbing spree in Bronx apartment

A woman is dead and two other people including a child and the alleged suspect are injured in a stabbing spree at a housing complex in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

The 55-year-old male suspect stabbed a 60-year-old woman killing her at about 5 a.m., according to the NYPD.

The suspect was listed in critical condition after barricading himself inside the 8th floor apartment at the St. Mary's Houses on East 156th St. and then setting it on fire, said police.

Firefighters extinguished it after responding to a 911 call.

The woman was the suspect's girlfriend. During the altercation, police say a girl, 9, was stabbed in the arm before managing to flee.
