Carolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton on Monday helped bring some comfort to a grieving mother who lost her son.

KTVU anchor Frank Somerville was instrumental in connecting Newton to the mother whose son was a huge Panthers fan.

Trae Sieczko's son, Scot died of cancer two years ago.

She says getting Newton to sign his jersey was on Scot's bucket list.

So Sieczko reached out to Frank, and he posted her story on his Facebook page.

The story went viral and even reached the 49ers, which then passed it along to the Panthers.

On Monday, the team invited Sieczko to Super Bowl Media Day at the SAP Center in San Jose to meet the Panthers quarterback.

Not only did Cam Newton sign her son's jersey, but he also gave her a new Super Bowl 50 jersey.

She described the moment as incredibly bittersweet.

She told Frank that as a mother, “this is the best feeling ever, knowing I was able to fulfill a dream of one of my children even though he's my angel in heaven now."

"It's a sad reminder Scot's not on earth with us. But I know he was with me tonight. I felt his presence. He's jumping up and down screaming!” Sieczko said.
