Skeletonized body in NJ home

WANTAGE, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say partially skeletonized human remains found inside a northern New Jersey home are those of a man who died seven months earlier.

Sussex County prosecutors said Friday Francis Brattole, 67, was dead for seven months before state troopers discovered his remains inside a Wantage home in April while responding to a medical assistance call.

Investigators are still trying to identify Brattole's cause of death. Foul play isn't suspected and prosecutors don't anticipate filing charges in the case.

Troopers responded to the home last month after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman on the porch of a house. Police found an elderly woman who couldn't communicate with them and discovered her husband's decomposed remains on a bed. Police also found a dead cat in the backseat of a car.
