Sesame Workshop responds to refugee crisis

The civil war in Syria has produced a historic humanitarian crisis. Sesame Workshop, the organization behind "Sesame Street," is reaching out to young refugees in the Middle East.

Sesame Workshop and International Rescue Committee are involved in the largest early childhood intervention in the history of humanitarian responses. The education program is making sure millions of children are educated and entertained as well.

Sesame Workshop and IRC were awarded the MacArthur Foundation's 100&Change grant for the project.

Sherrie Westin, the executive vice president of global impact and philanthropy for Sesame Workshop, came to Fox 5 News to talk about the program.
