Police: 'Mystery jogger' not involved in Karina Vetrano case

The father of murdered jogger Karina Vetrano, 30, told a radio show that he would like to speak with a man seen jogging regularly along the same path where his daughter's body was discovered.

"I just want to talk with him. I would see him almost every day. Now, he dropped off the face of the earth," Phillip Vetrano told  radio show host Curtis Sliwa.

But Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said that man came forward and said that he took a break from running because of injury.

"He's not a subject at all," Boyce said. "He's a 48-year-old man who hurt his knee and stopped jogging. Nothing more heinous than that."

Karina Vetrano of Howard Beach, Queens, was raped and strangled in Spring Creek Park on Aug. 2. Her body was found near a jogging path.

A GoFundMe page to raise money for a reward has reached more than $260,000.
