The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging anyone who has a Samsung Galaxy Note7 to stop using the device, turn it off, and not charge it. Immediately. Why? Because it may have a defective battery that can spontaneously explode.

Samsung announced that it is voluntarily recalling all 2.5 million devices that are in circulation.

"Samsung continues to ensure that consumer safety remains our top priority. We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them now," Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America, said in a statement. "New Note7 replacement devices will be issued to exchange program participants upon completion of the CPSC process. In the interim, consumers can return their Note7 for another device."

The FAA advised travelers to not pack the phone in checked luggage or charge it on a plane.

Galaxy Note7 owners should either call 800-SAMSUNG or contact the retailer where it was purchased.
