Russian-American lobbyist was at Trump Jr.'s meeting with Russian lawyer

When Donald Trump Jr. released his email chain earlier this week about setting up a meeting with a Russian lawyer to get dirt on Hillary Clinton he said he was doing it to be transparent. But what he didn't say was that another Russian was at that meeting last summer who reportedly has ties to Russian intelligence agencies.

The new name in the mix is Rinat Akhmetshin, a Russian-American lobbyist who confirmed he was in the meeting.

Akhmetshin is reportedly a former Russian counterintelligence officer, which he denies. He became a U.S. citizen in 2009.

When Trump Jr. admitted he attended the meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower he did not disclose Akhmetshin's presence.

House Democrats said they believe that omission is yet another red flag.

"When the president was a candidate for president he said 'I could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and nobody would really do much about it' because he was held in such high regard, by himself for sure," Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the House minority leader, said Friday. "That is the attitude he and his family have brought to the White House: an arrogance about being above the law."

Akhmetshin said he hasn't been contacted by the FBI or Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office about his meeting with Trump Jr. but he said he is willing to talk with them.

Fox News has confirmed an eighth person was at that meeting. But that person's identity has not yet been disclosed.

While President Trump continues to be dogged by the Russia investigation, he and the first lady were the guests of honor at France's Bastille Day celebrations early Friday.

The president also fired off a flurry of tweets turning up the heat on Senate Republicans to finally pass their revised health care bill: "Republican Senators are working hard to get their failed ObamaCare replacement approved. I will be at my desk, pen in hand!"

Vice President Mike Pence said he and the president expect the Senate to vote on the bill next week. But the votes still aren't there. Some conservatives don't like that Obamacare taxes on the wealthy remain in the bill.
