Draymond Green arrested for assault, court document shows

- Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green, 26, was arrested Sunday night during an assault in East Lansing.

According to the East Lansing Police Department, Green was outside of a restaurant at around 2:30 am Sunday when he got into an altercation with a man. 

Police say Green struck the man who was not injured.

Police were already in the area and arrested Green.

According to East Lansing Police, they were called to a fight at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning that involved two men, one of whom was Green. Police said the victim was not injured in the fight but Green was arrested for assault.

On Monday, he posted a $200 bond and was released from custody. He has ten days to return to East Lansing for arraignment.

The Warriors released the following statement, “We are aware of news involving Draymond Green in Michigan over the weekend. At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation.”

TMZ Sports released video of Green that apparently shows Green being led away in handcuffs.

 

At this point, additional details on the arrest have not been released. 

Green, a former Michigan State player, grew up in the inner-city of Saginaw, Michigan.

In 81 regular-season games for the Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green averaged 14.0 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, and 7.4 assists per game.

He finished 7th in the NBA MVP voting, and finished second for Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

In the playoffs, he averaged 15.4 points per game, 9.9 rebounds per game, and 6.0 assists per game. His playoff performance was overshadowed by his problems with flagrant fouls, which forced him to miss game 5 of the NBA Finals.
