Now in its 30th year, New  York City Fleet Week 2018 kicked off Wednesday with the Parade of Ships up the Hudson River.

The event gives the public an opportunity to tour Navy ships, watch military formations and meet members of the maritime services. Many events are free and take place across New York City.

The Parade of Ships gets things moving with the military vessels making their way up from New York Harbor to just below the George Washington Bridge.
