A Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police officer has died from injuries she suffered in a crash earlier this month.

Authorities say Elisa Bastardo died Friday. The 24-year-old Wall resident had been injured in a Feb. 6 crash in Plumsted, when her vehicle ran off the road, struck a utility pole and overturned.

Bastardo had joined the Port Authority after she graduated from Rutgers University in 2013. She was assigned to the Newark Airport Command.

In a post on its Facebook page the Port Authority Police Marine Corps Association wrote:  "It's yet another sad day for the Port Authority family as we deal with the passing of PO Elise Bastardo. PO Bastardo was a graduate of the 113th Police Academy Class and was assigned to the Newark Airport Command. On behalf of the members of the Marine Corps Association, we send our thoughts and prayers to the family during this extremely difficult time."
