NYPD: Video shows gang chasing, killing man

NYPD detectives are investigating a disturbing apparent gang murder in Brooklyn that involved at least 10 attackers.

The department released security cameras video, which top police officials are calling "graphic" and "hard to watch," in the hope that someone may come forward with information about the men seen in the images.

Cops identified the victim as Tyquan Eversley, 21. The video shows him walking down a street in East New York on Tuesday, March 19, when a car with four men inside pulls up near him, some get out and attack him without provocation, Chief Mike Kemper said at a press conference Thursday.

The video shows Eversley then trying to run away from as many as 10 men. Some of the men, who cops say are members of a gang, chase Eversley on foot while others pursue in the car.

Video footage from various cameras in the neighborhood show Eversley trying to get into moving cars, hiding behind a parked car, and then running across a backyard and climbing over a 6-foot white fence.

But what he may not have known is that just beyond the white fence is a chained barbed-wire fence, where he got stuck.

Chief Dermot Shea, the chief of detectives, said one of the attackers picked up a large rock and threw it over the white fence and then another man hung part-way over the fence and shot Eversley.

NYPD officials said that detectives have arrested the alleged rock-thrower, Michael Reid, 25, and charged him with murder. Police identified three other men from the video as Donaven McDay, 29, Shacore Huff, 24, and Alfred Crooks, 22.
