NYPD probes swastika graffiti at The New School

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police are investigating after swastikas were scrawled on dorm room doors at a university in New York City.

Police say they received a report at about midnight Saturday that an unknown person scrawled graffiti on four dorm doors at The New School in lower Manhattan. Police say the graffiti involved swastikas and profanity.

The Hate Crimes Task Force has been notified and is investigating the incident.

Sam Lichtenstein told the Daily News she broke down in tears when she discovered the anti-Semitic symbols on her door's white board. She said she reported the incident to campus authorities.

The New School President David Van Zandt released a statement saying the school will "take appropriate action to ensure the security and safety" of all of its students.
