NYPD K9 injured in gun raid

A special member of the NYPD is at home and recovering after he was injured on the job Friday, police said.

Timoshenko, a German shepherd with the New York Police Department Special Ops team, fell through the ceiling of a Brooklyn home while searching for weapons, police said on Twitter while sharing a photo of the dog.

The K-9 helped seize 10 guns and multiple rounds of ammo, cops said. The resident was arrested during the raid.

He needed seven stitches as a result of his injuries and the NYPD said that the hero dog will be just fine.

Timoshenko has been with the NYPD since 2011, and was named after NYPD Officer Russel Timoshenko, who was shot and killed during a 2007 traffic stop in Brooklyn.

The dog has become an intricate part of the NYPD Special Ops team and has made numerous public appearances, including the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
