No gas at Manhattan building for 10 months

Residents of 129 East 97th Street in Manhattan have been without cooking gas since April 2015. And they say it's been a long year of ordering takeout.

The building's owner says the company has done everything it can to help tenants since the summer; sending them microwaves and offering to help them to break their lease early.

Con Edison shut off service here because of a gas leak. Con Ed says it is waiting for the building's management company Mautner-Glick to do repairs so it can test the gas lines. But Navigator Realty, the parent company that owns the 12-unit complex, says it has been a frustrating back and forth of permits and paperwork.

Tenants say whatever it is they're tired of waiting.

But they might not have to wait much longer. In a statement, Navigator Reality says "on Tuesday we received the DOB Ready for Gas Authorization and are waiting for Con Ed to come for their final inspection and meter installation."
