New York mourns France attack victims

As France mourns following the truck attack in Nice, locals and French expats alike in New York are processing the tragedy while reflecting on the possibility of a more peaceful future.

At the French consulate Friday, visitors were heartbroken. And in the Little France section of Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn, black ribbons were tied to French flags as a sign of respect.

For Jacques, whose parents own a popular French restaurant, the attack hit very close to home. With his grandmother living just blocks away from the attack, Jacques acknowledged that he was now afraid to return to France.

But for Fabrice, who just moved to the U.S. from Paris one month ago, resilience is the only option.
