Free flu shots in Nassau County

To help fight this year's brutal influenza outbreak, Nassau County health officials will be offering free flu shots on three days this month.

The governor's declaration of a public health emergency freed up funding for the county to add locations for vaccinations, according to County Executive Laura Curran.

"Nassau County will take all measures to protect health by assuring that all residents have access to the flu vaccine," she said.

"Getting vaccinated is the single best way for people to protect not only themselves, but those around them," Health Commissioner Lawrence Eisenstein said, "including people at high risk for serious complications, like babies, pregnant women, older adults and those with certain chronic medical conditions."

The county's Health Department is offering free flu shots on these days in these locations:

Saturday, February 10, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Nassau County Department of Health
200 County Seat Drive, Mineola

Tuesday, February 13, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Nassau County Department of Health WIC Office
160 N. Franklin Street, Hempstead

Thursday, February 15, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
