There was a shaky start to the New Year for some people in New Jersey.
Scientists say a small earthquake shook the northern part of the state. The US Geological Survey reports a magnitude 2 earthquake hit just before 1 a.m. Sunday about 2 miles northwest of Ringwood.
Officials say it was also felt in Mahwah and in some towns in Rockland County, New York.
There are no reports of damage or injuries.
