Meteorologist accused of fracturing news anchor's skull in fight

A meteorologist at a West Virginia TV station is accused of shoving a news anchor and fracturing her skull.  It happened after the anchor attended The Girl's Night Out Celebration that was being held Sunday at the Charleston Civic Center.

26-year-old Chelsea Ambriz is charged with misdemeanor battery. A criminal complaint says Ambriz, who works as an on-air weather forecaster for WSAZ-TV, shoved station anchor Erica Bivens.

Bivens had decided to go out for drinks with her husband after the event and ended up running into Ambriz at a bar.

According to the police report, Ambriz reportedly started to "hit on" Bivens' husband.  When she confronted her co-worker, Bivens says Ambriz became irate and shoved her.  Both fell over the bar area.

The complaint says Bivens suffered a ruptured ear drum and skull fracture in the fight.

Ambriz is set to appear in court Sept. 21. It's unclear if she has a lawyer that can be contacted for comment.

The industry site FTVLive reported, citing an unnamed source, that that Ambriz is telling people that she has been suspended

Fox News has reached out to WSAZ-TV for comment but it was not immediately answered.  People have commented on the station's Facebook page about a lack of news coverage by the station on the incident.
