Mayor defends cops in beach arrest of woman

Wildwood, New Jersey Mayor Ernie Troiano is defending the police officers seen arresting a woman on the beach in a violent altercation during the Memorial Day weekend captured on video.

Troiano told  FOX 5 NY morning program 'Good Day New York' that Emily Weinman was the aggressor.

The Philadelphia resident is seen in the video being punched in the head by a police officer.

Weinman was in possession of alcohol, according to Troiano. She was given a breathalyzer test and was found not to be intoxicated.

"I know that didn’t come up positive. I didn’t take a drink of anything,” she can be heard saying in the video.

"It is against the law," said Troiano. "This could have been easily diffused ...when she started with the wise remarks... She refused to give her name... All you have to do is say my name is so and so. You would have gotten a local ordinance ticket. She could have gone to the court to dispute the ticket. That's all she needed to do."
