Man snaps at DMV, arrested on felony charges

A trip to the DMV is bad enough to almost make anyone snap.  For one man it ended with him facing felony charges after scaring other patrons.

Police in upstate New York say Barry A. Gutierrez, 28, of Wappinger went into the Department of Motor Vehicles location on Marshall Road in the village of Wappingers Falls on Monday morning.

Police say that he started acting in a disruptive manner and implied that he had a gun.  People were alarmed after they say he stated that he was worse than a preschool shooter.  It was unclear what started the incident.

The state police responded.  He was not found to be in possession of a gun but he was arrested on charges of making a terroristic threat and menacing.

Gutierrez was arraigned before the village of Wappingers Falls Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Gutierrez is next scheduled to appear before the Court on June 21.
