Man pepper sprays, stabs fellow wedding guest

A Long Island man is accused of pepper spraying fellow wedding guests and stabbing one of them with a screw driver.

Nassau County police say it happened Sunday just after 3 a.m.

Detectives say Mohamed Samkabba, 37, of Hempstead was involved in an earlier dispute with two other men who had all attended a family wedding in Far Rockaway.

Samkabba followed the brothers who had left the wedding until both cars pulled into a Municipal parking lot on Grand Avenue and Edward Street in Baldwin.

Police say that Samkabba then confronted the 37 year old brother, pepper sprayed him in the eyes and proceeded to stab him in the ear with a screwdriver. The victim's 41-year-old brother, who attempted to help his brother, was then pepper sprayed as well.

Samkabba then drove to Grand Avenue and N. William Street where a police officer on an unrelated assignment was stopped. Samkabba got out and told the officer that he had been jumped.

Moments later the injured 37-year-old, who was bleeding from his ear, approached the officer on foot and advised him of what had just happened. As Samkabba was being placed into custody the 41-year-old victim, who was suffering from the effects of pepper spray, arrived and confirmed the story.

Police say they found a large canister of pepper spray in Samkabba's car.

Both brothers were then transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Samkabba is charged assault and other charges.  It was unclear if he had a lawyer.
