Man found dead in burning home that was thought to be vacant

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a man was found dead inside a vacant Trenton home that was damaged by a fire that also left a firefighter injured.

The fire on Sanford Street was reported around 3:30 a.m. Sunday and was soon brought under control. But firefighters found the body a short time later in the second floor of the home.

It wasn't immediately clear if the man was killed in the fire or how long he may have been staying in the home. Authorities say an attached vacant home was also damaged by the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A city firefighter suffered a back injury, but the injury was not believed to be serious.
