Man convicted in deadly crash arrested on gun charge

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — A Long Island man who received six months in jail and five years on probation for his role in a drag racing crash that killed five teenagers is facing weapons and endangerment charges.

Cory Gloe was arrested late Wednesday in Farmingdale after allegedly firing a 12-gauge shotgun in the air. No one was injured.

Bail was set at $100,000. His defense attorney did not comment.

Gloe was in May sentenced for the 2014 street race crash. He was granted youthful offender status because he was 17 at the time of the crash.

The judge said justice would be served by not giving him upstate prison time for an error in judgment.

Prosecutors objected and noted he had posted an online epithet to police after pleading guilty to manslaughter charges.

While he awaited sentencing, Gloe was arrested for allegedly speeding in Farmingdale.
