Man charged with jaywalking after being hit by truck

NEW JERSEY - A man in New Jersey who was hit by a truck crossing the street has been issued a summons for jaywalking.

Daniel Gallagher, 57, was hit by a pick-up truck about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday evening on South River Street in Hackensack. He was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

The man was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center and was admitted to the trauma unit.

Police issued Gallagher a summons for jaywalking while he was at the hospital. The driver, a 45-year-old New Milford man, was not charged with any offense. Police say the driver, who was not named, was not injured.
