Man busted for stealing thousands of gallons of gas

Police in Delaware say they have arrested a man who was sneaking into gas stations and siphoning thousands of gallons of gas into plastic tanks in his truck.

Delaware State Police detectives arrested Vincent B. Chinn Jr., 34, of Philadelphia.

They say that beginning on July 5th police began investigating a series of thefts that were taking place at various Shell Gas Stations throughout New Castle County.

They said that Chinn would go to the stations between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. and syphon hundreds of gallons of fuel from underground storage tanks and then transfer it to plastic tanks which were contained on a utility trailer attached to his blue Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

They found Chinn at a Shell Gas Station in Wilmington early Thursday morning.  He was arrested without incident.

They say he is responsible for the following thefts:

-July 5, 2018: Shell Gas, 4495 Summit Bridge Road, Middletown.

-July 10, 2018: Shell Gas, 841 Pulaski Highway, Bear. 

-July 15, 2018: Shell Gas, 4495 Summit Bridge Road, Middletown.

Chinn was arraigned on several charges and released on a $6,100 bond.
