Make your own ice cream at Cool Mess

Image 1 of 2

At Cool Mess on the Upper East Side you don't just pick your toppings; you make the ice cream yourself from start to finish. Owner Marguerite Loucas showed us how it is done.

You have two options for a base: chocolate or vanilla, she says. From there you can either choose from a list of recipes or choose your own adventure using your own ingredients.

Exactly eight minutes later, your ice cream is frozen -- and in go the toppings. Then the best part: scoop, serve, and eat.

Cool mess has only been on 62nd Street and Lexington Avenue since January, but parties are booked almost every weekend this summer.
