Loud booms shake houses on Long Island

People on Long Island were reporting hearing loud booms that shook their houses.  911 call centers got a lot of calls due to the incident.

Suffolk County Police said they were investigating.  They said the calls started coming in about 6:10 p.m. from Lindenhurst, Bay Shore and West Islip.  They said there was no evidence of any explosion.

Similar sounds in January were eventually attributed to military planes.  It was unclear if this was the same thing.
