Long Island man accused of assaulting 94-year-old man

Police on Long Island say a man attacked an elderly man at a shopping center.

It happened Sunday just after noon at the Great Neck Plaza.

Police say that Daryl Wright, 39, was in front of Best Market and became irrational and got into an argument with a 94-year-old man.  Officers say he violently pushed the victim to the ground.

Bystanders saw the incident and got a description of Wright, as well as his vehicle as he was leaving.  Officers spotted Wright’s vehicle a short distance away, stopped him and placed him under arrest.

The 94 year old victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated for a fractured femur.

Wright was already wanted in connection with a fraud case.  He is charged with assault, grand larceny, and other charges.

It was unclear if he had an attorney.
