Oh deer! NYC campaign promotes living safely with wildlife

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City wants its residents to get along with their neighbors — even the four-legged ones.

A new awareness campaign has been launched to teach city dwellers how to live safely with some of the wild animals that make their homes in the five boroughs. That includes deer, raccoons and coyotes.

WildlifeNYC is a collaboration between a number of city agencies. It includes ways for residents to report wild animal sightings as well as programs where people can learn more about the animals that can be seen at places around the city.

It also includes the city's efforts to manage certain animal populations, like the deer population that can be found across Staten Island.
