Firefighter falls through floor while battling house fire

EAST GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a firefighter escaped serious injury when he partially fell through a floor while battling a fast-moving house fire.

The man was among several firefighters battling the blaze in East Greenwich Township, which was reported around 11:10 p.m. Saturday. He fell a short time later and was rescued by members of a rapid intervention crew.

The firefighter was treated at the scene for undisclosed injuries and taken to a hospital as a precaution. His name has not been released.

Three people who lived in the Kings Highway home were able to safely escape the flames. They were being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
