6-year-old boy among 8 people wounded in 3 Newark shootings

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A series of shootings in New Jersey's largest city has left eight people wounded, including a 6-year-old boy.

Essex County prosecutors say the three shootings in Newark occurred over an eight-hour period between Saturday and Sunday.

The boy and two men were shot around 5:45 p.m. Saturday. All three remained hospitalized Sunday in stable condition, and city officials are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

The next shooting occurred around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, when a man and a woman were wounded. Both were treated at a hospital and were later released.

The final shooting occurred around 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Two women and a man were wounded and taken to a hospital, where one of the women remains hospitalized in critical condition.
