NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Police in New York City are searching for a man who they say was involved in a series of violent robberies against women. They say he robbed at least five women in Brooklyn and sometimes punches his victims in the face.
Police say the suspect stole phones from the victims in each robbery. Authorities say the suspect also fled with debit cards and cash in some of the attacks.
They have all taken place in the Gravesend and Sheepshead Bay neighborhoods.
Here are the attacks reported to the NYPD:
July 11: At approximately 11:10 p.m. in front of a residential building in the vicinity of Parkway Court and Hubbard Street, the individual approached the 20 year-old woman from behind, punched her numerous times in the face and grabbed phone. The victim suffered fractures to her face and was treated at Maimonides Medical Center.
July 15: At approximately 12:45 a.m. in front of a residential building in the vicinity of East 1 Street and Avenue Y, the individual approached the 21 year-old woman from behind as she approached her home and pulled a gun. He took off with her phone and bag.
July 16: At approximately 7:45 a.m. in front of 2436 West 2 Street, the individual approached the 63 year-old woman from behind and pulled a gun. He took her bag, which contained her phone, cash and personal papers.
July 18: At approximately 1:50 a.m. in the vicinity of Avenue Z and East 26 Street, the individual followed the 26-year-old woman as she walked home. When the victim noticed she was being followed she attempted to run away but he chased her down, pulled a gun and punched her in the face numerous times. The victim fell to the ground and grabbed her bag. Among the items inside her bag were her phone, electronics and personal papers.
July 22: At approximately 12:45 a.m. in front of 2459 West 3 Street, the individual followed the 22-year-old womam as she walked home. The victim noticed someone was behind her and as she turned to face the individual, he tackled her to the ground, took her bag and slapped her buttocks. Among the items inside the victim's bag were her phone, debit card and approximately $708.
Police say the suspect is described as a male Black, early 20s, 5'5" to 5'10" in height, slim build. He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt with dark markings on the upper sleeve and shoulder area, sweatpants and black sneakers. He often covers his face with either a ski mask, bandanna, du-rag or towel.
