NY high school student arrested with 90 heroin packets

BOHEMIA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a teenager has been arrested after allegedly being found with 90 packets of heroin at a Long Island high school.

Matthew Stambler was arrested on felony drug possession charges Wednesday at Connetquot High School in Bohemia.

Suffolk County police say the 18-year-old was arrested after investigators were tipped off by school officials that he was in possession of the drugs.

The school district has said it is cooperating with police.

Online court records show Stambler was ordered held on $30,000 bail after his arraignment Thursday.

Stambler's attorney says his client is a "good kid" and an Eagle Scout.
